Can you wear sterling silver in water? does it need to be washed afterwards or not?
my wife wants to wear her sterling silver cross when she showers and when we are in the hot tub is this ok or will it hurt the metal?
Silver is tricky because the water and oxygen might make it tarnish (turn brown in color). But you can always get a silver cleaning polish or just a simple silver cleaning cloth that will wipe away the tarnish. To keep jewelry in pristine condition, it should never be worn in water but it’s no big deal if you don’t want to deal with the hassle of taking it on and off every day. Just buy a silver cleaning cloth— jewelry stores might even give them away for free.
